U.P. Destinations with the ProCamp

Looking to take a mini vacation or go on a weekend getaway? Michigan's Upper Peninsula has many activities for all. We have included some of the top things to do in the U.P. with the ProCamp.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was established in 1966 and is America’s first national lakeshore. Take one of the Pictured Rock cruises or a kayak tour to view the mineral stained sandstone cliffs along Lake Superior. Many other activities are available in the area including bicycling, day hiking, going to the beach, and more. Use the ProCamp to haul your outdoor supplies.

Hiawatha National Forest

Also known as the Great Lakes National Forest, the Hiawatha National Forest consists of 894,000 acres and nearly 100 miles of shoreline. Scenic views, hiking, and camping are just some of the things to do here. The forest also gets nearly 200 inches of snow – perfect for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or ice fishing. The ProCamp has plenty of storage available for all of your items.

Kitch-iti-kipi

Located in the central region of the upper peninsula, Kitch-iti-kipi ("Big Spring") is a natural freshwater spring. As one of the most popular attractions in the U.P., it welcomes over 60,000 visitors each year. After parking the ProCamp in the parking lot, a short walk leads to the observation deck and crank-propelled raft. Enjoy a view of the forty feet deep, crystal-clear, teal water spring, Kitch-iti-kipi.

Mackinac Island

Although motor vehicles are banned on Mackinac Island, you can park in the ferry parking lot and take the ferry over to the island. For transportation, you can bring your own bicycle, rent bicycles, or walk on foot. Another option is renting horses/horse and buggies for a unique ride. Carriage tours are popular and offer a narrated tour of the island while you ride. Once on the island, there are many things to do, such as visiting the Arch Rock or Mackinac Island State Park. There are also historic landmarks and many museums for history lovers. Mackinac Island has many other activities as well; boat and kayak tours, ziplining, a butterfly house, and more.
